EchoStar outs its HDT-610R Ultra Slim Box, says it's 'world's slimmest' DVR
EchoStar has come a long way since unveiling that HDS-600RS early last year, and today the European company's taking the wraps off of its newest DVR, the Ultra Slim Box HDT-610R. Keeping true to its moniker, the 610R measures in at a slim 14mm thin, while weighing in at just under two pounds. Physical features aside, EchoStar's managed to stuff a 500GB hard drive inside the DVR's scrawny body, as well as a couple of USB 2.0 incisions and single Ethernet and HDMI ports. On the software end, the device is equipped with a Freeview+ HD feature that offers subscription-free access to over 50 "high quality" and four high-def channels -- though, you will have to pay a one-time fee for the service. The HDT-610R will be available for pre-order starting May 4th, with Amazon, John Lewis and Maplin being the first online vendors to have it for up for grabs. No word on pricing yet, but in the meantime all you Euro folks can gander at the PR below to soak up the rest of the deets.

Usher, Kelly Clarkson Added To Billboard Music Awards Performer List
Nelly Furtado and Linkin Park will also perform on May 20 show from Las Vegas.

Rick Santorum Denies Taking Photo of Lindsay Lohan
Does Rick Santorum have a crush on Lindsay Lohan?
The former presidential candidate reportedly asked the actress to pose for a photo at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, then awkwardly denied it.
Lohan was sitting with Greta Van Susteren, whose invitation to the star drew fire from Meghan McCain, at the annual event when Santorum approached.
He reportedly asked Lindsay to take a picture of him with Van Susteren, then snapped a photo of Lohan. Not along with him, just a photo of Lohan. Alone.
Random? Sure. But probably harmless. The funny part is that when asked about this by a reporter shortly after, he dodged the question unnecessarily.
"I took a picture of a lot of people tonight," the visibly uncomfortable politician said, as though he could not remember what happened minutes earlier.
It's really okay Rick. You're allowed to be a little enamored with this sultry, captivating, slow-moving train wreck of an individual. We clearly are.
Santorum dropped out of the Republican presidential race this month, having given Mitt Romney an impressively strong run considering that he's Rick Santorum.

B&N 8-K: Microsoft Paying $180M Advance On Nook For Windows 8, $125M For Content, Tech Acquisition
Microsoft really wants to make sure it can compete against Amazon and Apple in the e-books space -- and it's putting its money where its mouth is. In addition to the $300 million Microsoft is investing for a 17.6 percent stake in Newco, the un-named subsidiary that will now house B&N's Nook and other digital businesses, it looks like it is putting other money towards the venture, according to the 8-K form filed by Barnes & Noble earlier today. A section called "Commercial Agreement" notes that Microsoft will be paying the Barnes & Noble subsidiary $180 million in connection with revenue sharing on the Nook app that B&N will make for the Windows 8 platform. This is nonrefundable, the filing notes. Microsoft is also paying $125 million (equal to $25 million over five years) "for purposes of assisting NewCo in acquiring local digital reading content and technology development."
